The Ben Youssef Medersa in Marrakech

The Ben Youssef Medersa is a historic school for Muslims located in the medina of Marrakech. It was founded in the 14th century and has been renovated and extended several times over the years. The medersa was used as a Koranic school until the middle of the 20th century, when it was closed. In 1982, it was converted into a museum and opened to the public. The Ben Youssef Medersa is known for its very traditional Islamic architecture and charming, enchanting decor. It has a large central patio, filled with rooms for students, as well as a large prayer room decorated with mosaics. The walls and ceilings are decorated with mosaics, stucco and Arabic calligraphy. The Ben Youssef Medersa is one of the finest examples of Islamic architecture in Morocco. Tourists and visitors can discover Moroccan history and culture in the fabulous little details inscribed in its walls. The Medersa Ben Youssef is also known for its architecture and decorations.
